Barrington Rotary helps out at Barrington Giving Day (BGD) each year.  This year it will run for 3 days at Barrington Middle School Station campus.  BGD has reserved for Rotary to run the bag storage station on Saturday.  However, if Saturday is nit convenient for you, consider volunteering for. Our Rotary Clubmembers have partipated in placing wreaths on Veterans gravestones.  Here is the information and sign up link:

Thank you for Volunteering to place wreaths for National Wreaths Across America Day in 2023. I am the Location Coordinator for ILEGCA - Evergreen Cemetery Association, Barrington, IL, and I am writing with information about this year's ceremony. 

Wreaths Across America Day will take place on Saturday, December 14th, beginning with a brief Memorial Service at noon. We have tried to streamline the process of wreath retrieval following the Memorial Service, and your time outdoors on the cemetery grounds will likely be less than one hour if you place two wreaths.

We hope you will volunteer again this year! If you have not yet done so, please click Volunteer to volunteer again this year - registering to volunteer allows us to communicate with you with event details.

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH

The Gibson Family of 8-10 would love to have a simple home cooked meals to help them through this difficult time.  Please go to the volunteer sign up to take a meal date. The only allergy is shrimp.  They will also have a couple of  children but a kid friendly meal is not required. I am thinking sweet treats might be a good addition for the kiddos.  All meals should be homemade, simple & delivered in a disposible or recyclable container with written instructions. We do not want the family to have to worry about getting containers back to people.  They have requested soups, lasagna, enchiladas, chili, etc.  Simple but feel free to be creative.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING SO WE DO NOT DULPICATE. There is also a comment section in the sign up that you can leave what you are making as well.  This way everyone can see. We are starting with 5 days but may add more as needed.  Meals can be dropped off at the Gibson home.  There will be a cooler at the front door.  If you do not live in LBS you must enter LBS through the front gate.  I can add you to my guest list for the day you are delivering, just let me know. If they give you any issues, have them call me, not Suzanne.

The 20 MPH speed limit in LBS is photo inforced so please watch your speed.

The Indoor Ride To End Polio will take place January 9, 2025 at Advocate Good Shepherd Fitness Center.  The class will be run by Rotarian Jenkins Davis.  Sign up link to come .  This event will raise funds for the global vaccination effort to END POLIO NOW

Rotary members will go to a District 220 elementary school at 9:00 am on Friday, February 28.  We will read an assigned book to the students.  It takes about 30 minutes and is fun!!

This lunch will be at Ciao Baby Restaurant 

We will meet at Makray Golf Course on Rt 14.  Reflective vests and large garbage bags will be provided.   Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, wear work gloves.   You may be friends or family members but youth must be over 13 because of the traffic issues.  
 

We will visit Alden Senior Care Center in Barrington.  Meet at Alden at 10:00 am.  We will enjoy cookies and coffee and socializing some of the seniors.  We are bringing them a small gift bag and a card.  Please sign up or notify Joanne Young that you can attend 

The Metropolitan YWCA system offers a variety of health, wellness, and counseling programs to local underserved women.  We will tour the facility in Waukegan and we will also bring some items that can be of need to their clients.  We will bring toiletries, food items and some other items.   We probably need to leave about 1:30 pm and can carpool together, so please RSVP.

BRC is partnering with the Barrington Area Library to sponsor a Mental Health Fair at the Library.  We will have a speaker, Meg Kissinger, who is author of the book "While You Were Out: An Intimate Family Portrait of Mental Illness In an Era of Silence."  This will be followed by tables in the lobby highlighting mental health services.
