I feel privileged to invite my fellow Rotarians to once again join us for our annual Ramadhan Iftar interfaith dinner at our mosque on Monday, the 8th of April, 2024.
Ramadhan is a month of Fasting, Prayer, Self-reflection, Charity, and Benevolence for Muslims. Sharing a meal with our neighbors is an essential activity during this month. It is a time of spiritual achievenment and promoting brotherhood among fellow human beings. We kindly invite you to share a meal while developing an understanding, harmony, bonding, and fellowship with other people of faith. Iftaar is a meal to break fast and thank God for His Blessings and Bounties and to bring a sense of community and partnership among people of different faiths. Please honor us by joining our congregation for this important spiritual event.

My name is Dr. John Mannelly and I am excited to serve the Barrington community! I was born in southern California and then spent my formative years in Minden, Nevada near the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. I received my undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Nevada. I continued my education and received my DDS degree from the University of Southern California Ostrow School of Dentistry. I received an excellent wide-ranging education in the many facets of dentistry. While at USC, I had the pleasure of serving the community at places such as the Union Rescue Mission, the USC Mobile Dental Clinic, and the dental clinic at LAC+USC Medical Center. Dear Barrington Rotary members,
this year the Village of Barrington is partnering with local groups to have waste sorting stations at the Barrington Art Fest on May 25 and 26. Volunteers will work in shifts to help attendees place their items into compost, recycling, or landfill bins. We cannot control what is sold or completely make the event “zero waste,” but this will be an opportunity to educate and show a concern for environmental issues.
Please sign up for shift if you are able. Wear Rotary gear if you wish. Please forward this to others who might be interested. Teens can earn service hours.
More info will go out to volunteers closer to the event including reminders to bring a lawn chair and reusable water bottle. We will also give instructions on sorting.

That being, weeding the front garden at the Brightpoint Child & Family Center (229 Lake Marian Road Carpentersville, IL, 60110) that our Club donated and helped install years ago. As a sidenote we also installed one of our Free Mini Libraries there. Anyway, bring digging shovels, buckets, and I'll purchase some yard waste recycle bags |

Our club will run a free BINGO game at this event beginning about 5:15 pm until prizes run out. Afterward, we will stay to enjoy the food and festivities. This is at Freier Farm in Lake Barrington. You may register to attend the event for the fun (food, drink, music, activities) but it isn't necessary. We would like people to volunteer to help at the BINGO that we will run for about one hour We probably need about 10 people to help out . Please see the Volunteer link
