My name is Dr. John Mannelly and I am excited to serve the Barrington community! I was born in southern California and then spent my formative years in Minden, Nevada near the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. I received my undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Nevada. I continued my education and received my DDS degree from the University of Southern California Ostrow School of Dentistry. I received an excellent wide-ranging education in the many facets of dentistry. While at USC, I had the pleasure of serving the community at places such as the Union Rescue Mission, the USC Mobile Dental Clinic, and the dental clinic at LAC+USC Medical Center.

Project Description:

--Prepare comfort baskets for recovering human trafficking victims.

--We will collaborate with multiple agencies to provide the “comfort baskets”  to HT victims

--Rotarians “project leaders” will secure the items for the “comfort baskets” from the items needed list secured.

ü  Rotarians will assemble the baskets, on April 25^th, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, from starting at 7:30 a.m., utilize “Main Entrance.”  Details will follow as date approaches. 

Barrington KidFest takes place at Citizen's Park in Barrington.  We will do "fun runs" (short running races).  We are adding a second activity this year, throwing bags.  .  If you have a bags game board, we would like to borrow it.

Group, I know this is last minute, but the Community Service Committee would like to squeeze in this month's service project! That being, weeding the front garden at the Brightpoint Child & Family Center (229 Lake Marian Road Carpentersville, IL, 60110) that our Club donated and helped install years ago. As a sidenote we also installed one of our Free Mini Libraries there.

Anyway, bring  digging shovels, buckets, and I'll purchase some yard waste recycle bags

The Pino Farina Band will play outside on the grass at Lake Barrington Shores.  Lobster Roll Food Truck!! YUM!

You must RSVP via CLUBRUNNER by 7/11/24 5pm in order to get on the LBS entry list at the gate.  BRC Members can register guest on ClubRunner. The list will be given to the LBS Gate on Thursday 5:05PM.

Bring a chair, beverage, bug spray.  There will be a Food truck selling lobster rolls.   You can also bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Lew Parks is the lead on this event.

Park along Shoreline or at the Clubhouse parking. SPEED LIMIT IS 20 MPH and is strictly enforced by unmanned radar. All guest must enter through the LBS front gate off of Rt 59, just North of Miller Rd. 

NAMI is having a picnic for their clients and the BRC companion and other club members are needed to help out.

As part of our Rotary Friendship Exchange with our guests from Jaipur, India, we will be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg. 

We are hosting a Farewell Reception for our Rotary Friendship Exchange with Rotarians from Jaipur, India.  We will gather at 5:30 with a short BRC meeting starting at 6PM followed by a potluck dinner and the Induction of Matt Downing.  

If you are not a resident of Lake Barrington Shores, please enter through the main gate off of Rt 59, just North of Miller Road.  Please obey the 20 MPH speed limit. The speed limit is monitored by unmanned radar.

Foundation that works to prevent fentanyl overdose though education

Join Barrington Rotary Club for our Annual Family Picnic. Bring the family and invite a friend. The menu provided by the club will be BBQ Chicken and Tofu/Veggie Teriyaki. This is an event at BHS that needs 140 volunteers to help screen for cardiac conditions in athletes.  Chief Scott Motisi brought this to our attention.  The volunteers need a training session and then a volunteer time.  Sign up here: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/592099900083/false#/invitation

Our club will run a free BINGO game at this event beginning about 5:15 pm until prizes run out.  Afterward, we will stay to enjoy the food and festivities.  This is at Freier Farm in Lake Barrington.  You may register to attend the event for the fun (food, drink, music, activities) but it isn't necessary.  We would like people to volunteer to help at the BINGO that we will run for about one hour    We probably need about 10 people to help out .  Please see the Volunteer link
